Worksheet · The Rule of Three

Three Priorities, Every Horizon

You can't chase thirty priorities. You can chase three. Work top-down — name the three that matter this year, then let them decide your quarter, your month, and the week in front of you. When everything is a priority, nothing is.

Name:    Date:

Work from the top down.

Your daily three already live in the Daily Journal — this sheet zooms out. Set the year first, and each smaller horizon becomes a way to serve the bigger one. Three lines each. Leave a line blank rather than padding it.

This Year
The three that would make this a year you're proud of
My three priorities for the year

e.g. Ship the book. Get back to 3 workouts a week. Be present for the kids' bedtimes.

This Quarter
The three that move the year forward over the next 90 days
My three priorities for the quarter

e.g. Finish the first draft. Lock a strength routine. Plan one real family trip.

This Month
The three to land in the next four weeks
My three priorities for the month

e.g. Draft chapters 4–6. Hit the gym 12 times. Book the trip.

This Week
The three you'll actually act on now
My three priorities for the week

e.g. Outline chapter 4. Three gym sessions. Compare flight prices.

The Other Side of Focus
Optional — naming your "no" is what protects your "yes"
What I'll say no to (or set down) this week to protect the three above
Three is a discipline, not a limit.

Revisit your weekly three every week and reset the quarter each season. Most of what feels urgent isn't one of your three — let this sheet be the thing you check before you say yes to anything new.
